Here at Bedard Brothers Chevrolet, we love every Chevy vehicle equally—we simply prefer different models for different things. Some vehicles are perfect for getting a college student to and from campus each day while hanging out with friends on the weekends. Others are ideal for a growing family that needs to be able to go seemingly nonstop with plenty of room inside for everyone and everything that has to come along for the ride. As your Chevy dealer near Greenfield, we know how important gas mileage and fuel efficiency are for many of our customers. So today, we’re going to take a look at the top 10 vehicles from Chevy in terms of how they rank for overall gas mileage. To keep things simple, we will be sticking to gas and diesel models and won't be covering Chevy's EV lineup.

#1 – Chevy Trailblazer (31 MPG combined)

It should come as no surprise that the most efficient vehicle in Chevy’s lineup is also one of the smallest. The Chevy Trailblazer is a subcompact SUV (one of two that Chevy offers––guess which model is close behind this one?) and one of the most popular options we sell. In terms of fuel efficiency, the 2024 Trailblazer, with its available 1.3L turbocharged engine, continuously variable transmission, and front-wheel drive, gets an estimated 29 MPG in the city, 33 MPG on the highway, and 31 MPG combined fuel efficiency. That puts it at the top of our list and makes it a fantastic choice for keeping you away from the gas pump as much as possible.

#2 – Chevy Trax (30 MPG combined)

Surprise, surprise! The second spot goes to Chevy’s other subcompact SUV: the Trax. We find the Chevy Trax to be a great choice for getting around Greenfield and the surrounding area, giving you two rows of comfortable seating inside, impressive tech features, and innovative safety systems designed to keep you and your passengers safe. More importantly for our purposes today, the 2024 Trax gets an estimated 28 MPG in the city, 32 MPG on the highway, and 30 MPG combined fuel efficiency, putting it just a single MPG behind the Trailblazer—you probably won’t experience much difference in daily driving.

#3 – Chevy Equinox (28 MPG combined)

If you’re looking for something a little bit larger but still put a premium on great gas mileage, then the Chevy Equinox is one to check out. This is a compact SUV, so it’s a class larger than the previous two, but it’s not a large model by any means. It does have quite a bit more interior space for you to take advantage of, however, so it’s a noticeable upgrade when it comes to getting the most from your SUV while driving around Greenfield each day. The 2024 Equinox with front-wheel drive gets an estimated 26 MPG in the city, 31 MPG on the highway, and 28 MPG combined fuel economy, coming quite close to what the subcompact models deliver.

#4 – Chevy Silverado 1500 (26 MPG combined)

Here’s where things take an unexpected turn—the next offering isn’t the next-largest SUV but is, in fact, a full-size truck! You probably don’t think of fuel economy when you think of a large pickup, but there’s a particular option for the Chevy Silverado 1500 that makes it our next pick. That’s because the Silverado is the last of the full-size trucks available with a diesel engine; both Ram and Ford have abandoned the diesel market, much to the dismay of truck fans. The 2024 Silverado 1500, with its 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel engine and standard rear-wheel drive, gets an estimated 23 MPG in the city, 29 MPG on the highway, and 26 MPG combined fuel economy. Any other engine puts the Silverado 1500 much further down in Chevy’s lineup, but if you’re interested in a diesel, it’ll keep you on the road for a long time.

#5 – Chevy Blazer (25 MPG combined)

While the Silverado 1500 was a bit of a curveball, now we're back to Chevy's SUV lineup. The Blazer is a midsize SUV that’s larger than the Equinox. This is still a two-row option, however, so it’s not a great choice if you need more than five people to be able to pile into your vehicle. With its standard 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine and front-wheel drive, the 2024 Blazer gets an estimated 22 MPG in the city, 29 MPG on the highway, and 25 MPG combined fuel efficiency.

#6 – Chevy Tahoe (24 MPG combined)

The 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel engine that Chevy offers isn’t exclusive to the Silverado 1500, creating a couple of interesting SUV options. The Chevy Tahoe is a full-size SUV with three rows of seating inside, and it is an incredibly large vehicle by any standard. What’s remarkable, however, is that Chevy offers the diesel engine for it, giving the 2024 model an estimated 21 MPG in the city, 28 MPG on the highway, and 24 MPG combined fuel economy with standard rear-wheel drive. An SUV with a diesel engine isn’t for everyone, but it’s a compelling option.

#7 – Chevy Suburban (23 MPG combined)

Speaking of which, our next offering is the largest vehicle in Chevy’s SUV lineup and one of the biggest SUVs in the auto industry. The impressive Duramax turbo-diesel engine is available for the 2024 Suburban, giving it an estimated 21 MPG in the city, 27 MPG on the highway, and 23 MPG combined fuel economy. The available gasoline V8 engines lag pretty far behind the diesel and provide mileage more like you’d expect from such a big SUV, but this is something to consider.

#8/9 – Chevy Colorado and Camaro (22 MPG combined)

Next up, we have an unexpected tie: your preference here will depend on your driving habits and what you’re looking for in a vehicle. The 2024 Chevy Colorado is a midsize pickup with a standard turbocharged engine that gets an estimated 20 MPG in the city, 24 MPG on the highway, and 22 MPG combined fuel economy (remember that last number). Meanwhile, the 2024 Camaro is a powerful sports car with a standard 3.6L V6 engine that gets an estimated 18 MPG in the city, 29 MPG on the highway, and 22 MPG combined fuel efficiency. There are big differences between those city and highway numbers, but the Colorado and Camaro have the same estimated combined gas mileage. They’re very different vehicles, of course, so go with what works for you and your situation.

#10 – Chevy Traverse (21 MPG combined)

Finally, we have the Chevy Traverse, a three-row SUV that has similar seating inside to the Tahoe or Suburban, even though it’s smaller overall. Three-row SUVs like this are becoming increasingly popular, and the only thing putting this one behind the full-size models is that it doesn’t have a diesel engine available. The 2024 Traverse, with its turbocharged engine and front-wheel drive, gets an estimated 18 MPG in the city, 26 MPG on the highway, and 21 MPG combined fuel economy; this is better than the Silverado 1500, Tahoe, and Suburban if you’re interested in one of their gas engines rather than the diesel.
